Passive anti-odour filters effectively remove odours and other toxic substances released by sewerage in the sewage network. Their effectiveness has been confirmed by specialist laboratories.

They come in two versions:

  • manhole – EMF, EMF 250-400, ENPeco
  • chimney – EZK, KF

CONSTRUCTION

The components of passive anti-odour filters (manhole anti-odour filters and chimneys) are made of polyethylene, polypropylene or stainless steel and are resistant to long-lasting contact with aggressive substances that can be found in sewer installations.

The filters inside the device are filled with:

  • impregnated activated carbon layer
  • Ecol-Unicon catalytic carbon
  • impregnated activated carbon layer and chemical agent
  • biofiltering substance.

 

OPERATION

Passive anti-odour filters produced by Ecol-Unicon are designed to provide free passage of air through a replaceable filter. The size of the filter has direct impact on the effectiveness of air treatment and operation time of the device. The filter can be filled with biomass or an appropriately selected activated carbon. Passive anti-odour filters are equipped with a removable vent/cap that enables easy replacement of the filter. Additionally, EMF and ENPeco manhole anti-odour filters are equipped with water drainage system; EMF filter has a separate settling tank with outside siphon, while ENPeco filter is equipped with EUcleanON® system, which cleans the device from any solids and sediments while draining water at the same time.

Passive anti-odour filters are effective in eliminating odours and have a wide range of applications, among which are:

  • pumping stations and dry well pumping stations
  • household water treatment plants
  • food processing facilities
  • expansion wells
  • holding tanks (septic tanks)
  • percolation systems
  • manholes (e.g. in touristy or representative areas, old sewer systems, old town areas, housing estates etc.).

Operation

Taking into consideration difficult environment in which manhole anti-odour filters operate it is advisable to inspect the site and the work of the device. During such inspections the anti-odour filter must be cleaned of any remaining garbage, sand, rocks and water should be poured into the EUcleanON® siphon/system in order to check the correct operation of the device.

Technical solutions used in the devices enable simple replacement of the filter element without the need to purchase a new chimney or housing element, thus reducing maintenance costs.

 

IN ORDER TO REPLACE ODOUR NEUTRALISING COMPONENT THE FILTER/NEUTRALISING COMPONENT HAS TO BE REPLACED (A BAG FILLED WITH ACTIVATED CARBON/BIOFILTER)

  • chimneys and anti-odour filters are maintenance free
  • the construction of an EMF device provides the effective dampening of biofilter component to ensure its highest performance
  • a replaced biofilter component can be composted
  • a replaced activated carbon component must be collected by a specialist company having necessary certificates allowing for utilising hazardous substances.

 

THE OPERATION TIME OF EACH DEVICE DEPENDS ON THE AMOUNT OF CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS REMOVED FROM AIR ABOVE THE SEWAGE.
